Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Senior Executive Service Candidate Development Program (SESCDP)

Aug 21, 2018 | Optometry HQ Announcements

Fellow VA Colleagues,

I am pleased to announce that VA has opened the process for selecting the next group of participants in its SESCDP.  SESCDP provides vital support to the Department’s succession planning needs, particularly when a high percentage of VA’s current SES is retirement eligible, while the percentage of those we serve is younger for the first time in 40 years.

SESCDP is an 18 – 24-month leadership development program, open Government-wide to GS-14s and GS-15s.  It marks part of our continuing effort to recruit and develop the leaders we need to meet our mission of providing world class customer service to the Nation’s Veterans.  It is vital that those selected for the program understand the critical role they will play both in serving those who have defended our Nation and in motivating those who they will work alongside.

If you’re a high-performing employee who sees yourself leading a medical center, regional office, cemetery, or program, please consider applying to SESCDP.  You will have the chance to help lead VA in its noble mission of caring for those who protect and have protected the American way of life.  You can find further information on the program announcement here.  The announcement closes Monday, August 27, 2018.
