VA has published VHA Directive 1193.01, which reaffirms the requirement for all VA health care personnel to be vaccinated against COVID-19 or have an approved medical, religious, or pregnancy accommodation (exception). VHA HCPs in violation of the directive may face disciplinary action up to and including removal from Federal service. Applicants to VHA Health Care Personnel (HCP) positions will continue to be required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and provide vaccination documentation or have an approved accommodation. Processing of all accommodation requests to the vaccination mandate is currently on hold pending further guidance.
Testing requirements remain in place for all unvaccinated Health Care Personnel, as outlined in the Memorandum dated January 26, 2022: COVID-19 Testing Process for Unvaccinated Employees.
