Using Trainee Recruitment Events to Fill Critical Vacancies

VA Trainee Recruitment Events (VA-TRE) provide VA HPTs and VA facilities with open positions the opportunity to connect. By using streamlined recruitment, VA-TRE fills existing staffing needs with candidates who are VA-trained and ready to serve Veterans. HPTs may join the VA-TRE email list to be included in all future events by completing the form here: Join the VA Trainee Event Email List. HPTs will receive an automated reply from the system and be added to the HPT contact list for their profession.

The expected timeline for the Winter-Spring 2024 event is identified below. Information will be distributed to DEOs, Profession-Specific Leadership, Program Directors, and HPTs when registration opens.

  • Facility Position Registration: Jan. 11 – 26, 2024
  • HPT Candidate Registration: Feb. 7 – 21, 2024
  • Meet and Greets: March 4 – 22, 2024
  • Interviews: March 25 – April 10, 2024
  • First Round Job Offers Extended: April 15 – 19, 2024
