PSB dissolution

Jan 18, 2024 | Optometry HQ Announcements

Greetings everyone,

Policy revisions have been finalized by Workforce Management and Consulting (WMC) and are awaiting publication to eliminate Professional Standards Boards for Title 38 occupations. With this change, Title 38 Professional Standards Boards (PSBs) will no longer be required for appointment, promotion, and special advancement awards processes.

It is anticipated that policies will be published on January 29, 2024, marking this date as the official dissolution of the national Optometry Professional Standards Board (OPSB). As such, effective 1/11/24, the OPSB will no longer be accepting board requests.

The last OPSB meeting was held Thursday, January 11, 2024. It is anticipated that requests scheduled for that meeting will be finalized and returned to facility HR POCs for final action/processing on/before January 19, 2024. Any incomplete requests that were pending additional information will be returned to facility HR POCs as well as any new requests received after 1/11/24.

This situation is very fluid. As information is received, it will be shared. During this transition, you may wish to check with your service chief and/or human resources point of contact for additional information/guidance.

Respectfully,

Kathleen L. Gernhart
